Well I need to get that horrible second loss in a row that Purdue suffered out of my head so I may as well do a little blogging. No earth-shattering topics on my mind today, but I can tell you what we did to keep busy on a late winter’s day waiting for spring to arrive and bring planting season with it.
Got up a few minutes early to run my 1 year old son to his grandma’s for babysitting so I could run back into town to pick up some parts for my truck at NAPA. Then it’s back to the farm to collect Dad and Grandpa so we can take our financial statements into the bank and get rolling on our line of credit for 2011. After a little finance talk, and some optimistic Purdue basketball talk (the game was still hours away at this point) it’s time to go back to the shop.
My truck has been up on the lift since Wednesday just to put new front pads and rotors on the front. Upon reassembly I decided my calipers were in poor shape, thus the early morning parts run for new ones. One caliper installed and it’s lunchtime.
After a short lunch I hurry back so I can get this truck back on the ground and home for once. Second brake goes together quickly and Dad and I bleed the brakes. Test drive proves my first shot at fixing brakes came out OK! Then we finish the day working on getting a new rock box installed on the 9320, because who doesn’t love picking up rocks? To be honest we finished the day by breaking a drill bit off in the tractor frame. Oh, well that will give us something to do tomorrow morning.
Oh, I almost forgot! Randy, our hired hand, put in his first half day of work since early December. His doctors discovered a tumor in his neck and he’s been undergoing treatments daily for several weeks. His treatments are done and so far seem to be a success, so now he just needs to build strength. Good thing he showed up, because I had a little issue with the brake install that he helped with. Hopefully he can get back up to speed for planting time.
