This is like a back to school “What did you do this summer?” type of post. Obviously I don’t spend 24 hours a day in the field with my crops. I thought you all might be interested in some of the things I do for fun when I’m not planting, harvesting, maintaining equipment, or hauling grain.
My family was pretty busy when we weren’t working this summer. We moved my sister-in-law from Arizona to Indiana driving cross country, worked on our deck, played at the park, went to the county fair, and hung out in Chicago. I even went to Iowa and ate a Zombie Burger and rode around a race track in a pace car. And we went to a bunch of concerts. We saw Ted Nugent, REO Speedwagon, and Styx all in one shot. I saw Alice Cooper as a bonus to checking off a bucket list item by seeing Iron Maiden live! Twice! When I saw they were coming to both Chicago and Indianapolis I had to buy tickets to both dates. What did you do this summer?
What JohnDeere dealer you use?Flora or Monticello.Nathan Sheagly or John Lindsay?
Monticello!
This summer I worked in the University Writing Center on campus at Texas A&M University (still work there … am working right now!).
Also went on a road trip to Boulder, CO, driving from Texas through Oklahoma on into Colorado. On the way home drove through Liberal, KS, Edmond, OK, and down I-35 into Bryan, TX.
Another highlight was attending the 2012 Ag Chat Foundation Agvocacy 2.0 Media Training in K.C. Met people I had virtually met online and we strengthened our bonds through Human Moments.
I enjoy getting away from the norm a few times each year. Meeting great people like yourself in KC was certainly a bonus!
