This afternoon my wife and I took my son along with my sister and her husband out for some agritourism at Exploration Acres near Lafayette, Indiana. They have a lot of things to do there, but the main attraction is the corn maze. There are 25 stations within the corn maze each sponsored by a local business. At each station there is a specially shaped hole punch you use to mark a map that you take into the maze with you. For every sponsor you have a stamp for you’ll receive a coupon of some sort to use at that business.
There are some days where the maze is open until midnight and you can go out into the corn with a flashlight. An employee told us they get several cell phone calls each night from people who can’t get out, and then they have to send someone in after them.
Some of the other attractions include hay rides to the pumpkin patch and corn maze, a country store, an air powered corn cannon, and fire pits in the woods where you can sit an enjoy the scenery. Here’s a few of the pictures I took during the trip!
Oh, and one more thing. There were some farmers, including myself, in the maze pulling back corn husks to see what the crop looked like. Looked pretty good to me.
Went this last weekend. I asked Brian about how this would affect yield. Not to worried about it now I’m sure they paid for the entire field more than once just the day we were there. It was a good time though.
