Farm Week in Pictures 01/11/2014

We didn’t have a really active week on the farm.  The snow and cold from Ion slowed us down a bit, but we didn’t have pressing matters to attend to outdoors anyway.  No power lost and no pipes frozen for us, so that worked out well.  For the most part paperwork was done and some tractors were cleaned.  Bills were paid and we were paid!  We stopped paying ourselves back in August for tax reasons so checks for grain we had on hold pay started coming in this week.  We’ll have to see how the next year or two goes with grain prices as the large 2013 crop has put quite a dent in the markets.  Enjoy the pictures and be sure to tune in again next week!

Winter Storm Ion Blows Though Indiana

Winter Storm Ion Temperature via thefarmerslife.comIt got a bit cold for a couple of days.

Snowbine via thefarmerslife.comCruising around the back lot of our Deere dealer I spotted some snow stacked up on this combine auger that didn’t quite make it under the roof of the pole barn.

Snow Truck via thefarmerslife.comMy truck lives outside therefore it filled with snow.  I left it in the heated shop for a few hours to thaw out!

Fresh Air

Air Filters via thefarmerslife.comThe 8420 got a complete new set of filters to replace the two year old filters it was working with.  Picture from left to right are a cab filter, inner engine air filter, in-cab filter, and outer engine air filter.  The old inner engine air filter was nearly as clean as the brand new one.  Those outer filters do a good job!

Cleaning Up
